Deschutes Rim Health Clinic Providers

We have been blessed with the addition of three new staff members, Stephen McLennon, M.D., of The Dalles as our new Medical Director, Sharon DeHart, P.A., our fulltime provider. Sharon relocated from practicing in Lebaon, Oregon, and living in a remote part of the Coast Range.

Sharon D. DeHart, PA-C (Physician Assistant-Certified)

Sharon is the full-time healthcare provider for Deschutes Rim Health Clinic, coming back to Central Oregon from a practice in Lebanon.  She brings with her almost three decades of experience in emergency medicine prior to becoming a physician assistant, a dedication to and experience in providing healthcare to the underinsured, and personifies the ‘ole country doc’ theory of medicine.  She uses the years of experience in other fields besides medicine to her advantage now in caring for people of all ages, through all aspects of their life. She and her husband, Gary, who has family in the Hood River area, and four-legged child Shadow, have recently purchased a home within the district she is serving, “as we plan to live out the rest of our lives here.”

Dr. Stephen McLennon, Medical Director for Deschutes Rim Health Clinic

Dr. McLennon comes to see patients in Maupin two days a month, in addition to working in The Dalles in Family Practice, Internal Medicine and Occupational Medicine.  He is also the Medical Director for Mid-Columbia Medical Center’s Center for Mind and Body, teaches stress relaxation classes, and performs and leads community drumming sessions, believing drumming improves moods, immune function, physical movement and decreases burnout and stress.

Dr. E. Lee Balentine will have his dental practice in the building also.

The dental practice in Maupin started with a dentist coming from Madras, Dr. Harlow, who had the practice until 1985.  Dr. Balentine bought it and the practice has been growing ever since.

Dr. Balentine graduated from the University of Arizona in 1971 with a Bachelor of Science. He then attended the University of Oregon Dental School in Portland , graduating in 1975.  He then spent the next three years with the Navy, before returning to Portland to practice.  After spending eight years with the Willamette Dental Group he decided it was time to spread his wings and go out on his own.  He landed in Maupin, Oregon.  Dr. Balentine moved to this area because he enjoys fishing, hunting, but his most recent love is his golf.  

Dr. Balentine is involved in his local community.  He is part of the Fire Department, the South Wasco County Ambulance, and the Lions Club, the board for the Canyon Rim Manor, and the Chamber of Commerce.  Dr. Balentine has been married to Sharon for 35 years and has four children and one golden lab.

Dr. Balentine has added 2 new staff members including a detal assistant and a hygienist to his staff.
